Steve qualified as an architect in 1977 and has led design teams on public and private projects large and small in all sectors of building design. More recently he has been working in the field of school design starting at Barron and Smith in 1993 before moving to 3DReid in 2008 to lead Education in their London office before establishing Saviac Design in 2011.

As well as a comprehensive portfolio of built projects Steve has developed school Briefing models, advised local authorities on school procurement and acted as a RIBA Client Advisor specialising in education projects. His experience covers Sure Start, Early Years, Primary and Secondary maintained and VA schools in new-build, major extension, remodelling and refurbishment schemes. He has also carried out research for the Department of Education leading to publication of school design guidance.

Much of Steve’s recent experience has been in expert Briefing, capacity assessment and Master Planning on school sites and is currently a part-time Design Advisor to the EFA Priority Schools Building Programme (PSBP).
